TRYOUTS!
Check it out, when we were going to pick up ‘Åskan’ for transportation to Jordbro this evening the rain was pouring down with rays of sun looking down on us poor fools. 15 minutes later when ‘Åskan’ was on the trailer there was no rain to be found, now that’s fate!!
Tomorrow we’re gonna make a scoop-plug cause the tape and the plastic shopping bag is functional but looks like crap.
We’re also gonna tune the settings on the chassie, make an SFI burst plate, change the back tires and put on all the sponsor decals.

SALTSJÖLOPPET OFFSHORERACE 2010
We took the day off on Friday to try out some new tricks for this weekend’s offshorerace in Åkersberga, Saltsjöloppet. We got some more speed but it wasn’t enough. While our fellow competitors has +65 knots ( read 70!) we had 63 and alot of will, alot!!

1. Because of a large crewship water came into the engine on the first lap which took out a couple of cylinders on the first three controls, after that the engine rorared once more and we were in persuit of our fellow competitors again.
2. Co-pilot Kjell pulled the emergency chord by accident two times.
We fought our way into fifth place, congrats to Westerlund Racing and Mälarsanering for the first place in the Swedish Championships.

NEXT UP DTE RACING!
Kaffe och Konjak Offshoreracingteam will participate i Saltsjöloppet Offshorerace in Dyvik, Sweden on saturday.
We’ve worked on weight displacement and setback of the drivers seat all week, a custom aluminum hub for the steeringwheel has been ordered by www.fraesarn.se that’ll hopefully be ready tonight (Thursday, Sept 2).
The team is taking Friday off to try out the new settings and to laborate with lift displacement to gain knots for saturday.
At the same time as the boat has been under constant work this week, the Fastback has been gone through and put together for the engine setup. Since the crash took it’s toll on the intake manifold and the AED carb Dr.Ernie had to prep the valves and clean the heads from grovel and shards of plexiglass from the scoop.
Here’s a couple of pictures of the Fastback now, the transport to DTE Racing is due on Sunday.

BUSY LITTLE BEES
We are currently working on all team vehicles, the offshoreboat has a weight displacement that steals topspeed from us. We’re going to try a couple of ideas with sandbags and a different driver to see if our theories are right. At the same time, the new AED carb just arrived today which means we got work to do on the Fastback to get it ready for the season final on Kjula Dragway in September. New parts from Jegs, Åbergs VTC Parts and Mickey Thompson have been ordered and are on it’s way.
Here’s a picture gallary of what’s been worked over in the garage.

FASTBACK FURIOUSO
KAFFE OCH KONJAK RACING’s new -65 Ford Mustang is coming together nicely. Engine has been gone through by Dr. Ernie at www.dteracing.se , the expensive AED carb had been smashed into two pieces and forcefed plexiglass and grovel from the track in the crash. The heads needed some work but ended up alright, a new AED carb has been ordered with a favourable discount (thanks guys!), should be home by the end of this week. Check out AED’s excellent products at www.aedperformance.com
Our new team mechanic Robert at JH Automatservice has gone through the transmission to see if there was any damage in the crash, he found small aluminum shards that had returned from the smashed oilcooler. At first we thought the stat in the turbine had something to do with it but the we took it apart at Danielssons Bilservice and it looked brand new. A dynorun at Alexandra Engineering is schedueled this week just to make sure everything is 100% with the trans, more on this later.
While we are waiting for the new carb to show up the team has worked on the breakes and the front/back end of the car. Breakes, steering, tires, rims and gearaxle. The axle is a beautiful piece of work from Ford with Strange 40 splines axles that unfortunately needed some work before racing. The gearwheel had no shims so the pinion hooked every gear and gave us trouble before solving it, Inge Ellburg made the thing come together again. Thanks!
